Hey y'all,
This week has been very interesting. It started off on Tuesday when we helped put a new baptismal font in the Memphis temple. They took the Angel Moroni off and put up a new one, which was very cool to watch. We then took off the front doors of the temple to make enough room to fit the font in. The people in charge were very worried about us handling the glass to the doors, because they are from France and it takes about 6 months to make new ones. The font weighed about 1500 lbs, which was a little heavy. We rolled it on on dollies and somehow got all of the wooden frame off. They didn't take off the glass railing around the font so we had to get it up on the railing. We left it balancing with a wooden support system around it, hopefully it went well haha. It was a weird feeling tearing down a little bit of the temple, but it needed to happen I guess.
The week got better when we had to drive down to Collierville in Memphis for a doctors appointment because Elder Bice, my trainer, broke his foot back in February and its been acting up again. He was told to wear a boot and come back in a month to check up on it. So from here on out we are going to be driving the car around the whole time! But while we are driving a tire got kicked up from the car in front us and hit the front part of our car, so we had to borrow another set of missionaries' car until they get the other one fixed.
On Friday me and Elder Toutai went on splits and we found a guy that would let us talk to him after, and it was interesting because he picks up trash of the side of the road, and re-sells it to people that would buy. I never thought that someone could make any money off something like that. We also got an appointment with someone tomorrow! He was a referral but he sounded like its going to go good! Also right now we are trying to get a hold of some long time investigators but we haven't gotten any luck so far.
Saturday we did some service. We helped some members take down their pool, and as payment we got a swineapple. A swineapple is a pineapple, hollowed out, stuffed with boneless ribs, wrapped in bacon, and smoked for about 5 hours. I never knew that something like that existed. It was very good, and very interesting.
I was doing some personal study and I came across this scripture that I really like, it's Romans 1:15-17
"15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith."
