Hello! Very nice Portuguese! You got the essentials down! Also (Eu precisao usar o banhero) which I'm pretty sure is "I need to use the bathroom."
Oi! How is everybody doing? I forgot to take pictures this week but next week I should have my teachers and our classroom documented.
I got the three packages that you guys sent! Anything is happily accepted, thank you! In about an hour and a half we are going to have our Tuesday devotional. I can't remember the one today, but last week's was one of the Seventy, W. Craig Zowike. This Sunday for the devotional movie we watched Pres. Bednar's talk "Character of Christ." It was given at the MTC and it's an amazing talk. I would highly recommend it. Then yesterday we were in class, and our teacher had us go to the 5th floor of our building (we were on the 2nd) and read Alma 5 and have the question in our mind of how this can apply to me and our investigators. I literally came back with most of the chapter highlighted and underlined. It's an awesome chapter for missionary work. The Portuguese is coming along. I can sort of understand what my teacher is saying, but he is probably talking really slow. I have the "Missionaries Purpose" and Moroni 10:5 memorized and am working on memorizing the 1st vision. I am personally working on prepositions with articles, pronouns, and demonstrative stuff, like "in the, from the, on those"--stuff like that to help out my teaching of our gospel. Oh and memorizing all of the conjugations, irregular verb conjugations, and fun stuff like that. :D I hope that Indy is doing well, and I hope that he has started to walk on two feet now. Perserverar até o fim. P.S. Oh, and I'm the District Leader. Hey everybody! My address for the MTC is:
Elder Matthew Scott Bishop May 18 BRA-REC 2009 N 900 E Unit 175 Provo UT 84302 Can't wait to get packages! The first week wasn't that bad. It actually went by pretty fast! Just 5 more weeks to go. The Portuguese language is awesome and hard! We have "investigators," who are just teachers role playing as them, and we get to teach them, and I talked to her for 20 minutes in Portuguese! The gift of tongues is real and amazing! We have a quad-panionship, which consists of Me, Elder Gee, Elder Howell, and Sister Savage, which also happens to be our district 69-D! Our teacher is Brother Machado (say it like machette), he is Brazilian an grew up in the southern part of Brazil, he is awesome and funny! But he is still an amazing teacher. We have 6 Elders in our zone now, three of them left this morning at 6:00 to go to the San Paulo MTC. One was Elder Green, from Australia, Elder Howler, from Colorado, and Elder Gonzales, from Texas/Mexico. We took pictures at the temple on Sunday and Elder Green said I looked like Daniel Radcliff (Harry Potter) which is interesting. The MTC food is ok but not the best, it gets me pretty gassy. Our teacher told us to always pray in Portuguese because as we love our investigators and Brazil, we will be able to teach the people with better intent and success. That challenge is going ok, I don't know a lot of Portuguese words so its hard, but it's getting better! My p-day for right now is Tuesday, so I'll be able to email then! - Love, Elder Bishop P.S. I will try to upload photos soon, can't get it to work right now |
